She inspires
Friday 1314
Sometime in May, I received an email from someone whom I did not have the slightest notion to expect it.
It was from Pauline S. who writes for Sabah Daily Express on her weekly column entitle My Say.
How did she finds me?
A while back, I commented on Willie a.k.a Reptoz’s post and mentioned her as one of my favorite local writers. Surely luck has been playing its role well, she visited his blog and read my comment which led to her emailing me. She said, for years since she wrote for Sabah Daily Express as regards with her Pauline S. articles, she has never got in contact with any of her readers. In fact, to actually know that some one does read her articles made her overwhelmed. Oh yes, of course there are people who reads her column. Not just me. Proof? Minsulod, a friend of mine left a comment on my chat box asking if the person featured in Pauline S article dated June 2nd was me. Obviously Minsulod is one regular reader of My Say too.
I am a fan of her weekly column, albeit on and off. Her articles are very inspiring and one that I can always use as my personal guidance in my teaching journey. Whenever she relates her classroom stories and experiences, I feel like I was her.
Or at least going to be like her; to experience what she had wrote.
In short, her experiences more or less become my collection of modules on how to deal with my own classroom experiences.
Her writings even inspire me to create another blog where I’m thinking to quote her article and relates it with my classroom stories as well as my self-reflection in this profession. Although so far, that blog only contains stories that are more to kids say the darndest thing kind of stories.
So yeah, I have a third blog (fourth if my now-terminated Multiply blog is taken into count).
Fellow bloggers especially those in the teaching profession, feel free to drop by at…

By the way, those in Sabah, do check out PAULINE S’ column, My Say, every Tuesday on Sabah Daily Express.
And if you are in West Malaysia, she also writes for The Star on Sunday Star Education section by her pen name NITHYA SIDHHU.
Pleasant weekend ya’all!
Until next post!
*hugs*

Hi kay,
Is Pauline S is Mdm Pauline Soon? If yes, she was my principle at SM Stella Maris. I did come across to see her name in the newspaper but did read it pula…if she’s the one, everyone esp my seniors in school admire dengan dia…like her but sekejap saja term dia masa kami sbb dia kena transfer…so sad ni…
Hi Vera, I don’t think so la. But I will ask her first. If she’s the one, who knows you can keep in touch with her kan.

Dear teachers,
It’s nice to know that there are teachers who do follow my column - “My Say” - that appears every Tuesday in The Daily Express.
I have been writing the column for the past 12 years now (since 1996) and have rarely received feedback except from my editors!!
No one’s fault. I was teaching in Sabah then moved back to West Malaysia. Lepas tu, sibuk mengajar, jaga hal rumah dan membesarkan anak dll - you know-lah - a teacher’s lot. Now, i have more time on my hand and there’ more happening on the net. I got to know carol’s interest quite by accident! If you wish to e-mail me, pls go ahead. All opinions (good, bad) welcome.
But, I am defintely not pauline soon! I’m my own person - more abt me one day.

Dear Carol,
Oh ya - lupa I cakap. Thanks for the vote of confidence! Basically, the truth is this - only a teacher will know another teacher’s heart, predicaments, daily trials, aches and pains. Right?
Something positive for your blog :
“Believe in yourself … for the spark divine dwells in thee ; let it grow,
You have to but resolve, and lo, God’s whole great Universe shall fortify your soul.”

Thank you so much for the quote ms Pauline
