So yeah, the 3rd Sabahan Bloggers Gathering with Halloween theme had just ended last Saturday night.
About 100 people came (I think) and 90% of them dressed up in their best Halloween costumes.
Very impressive and fun.
I wondered where the heck did they get their awesome costumes where as I had to squeeze my brain hard to think where to get my costume’s assembles albeit it being a simple one.
Well done to the organizer for making this year’s gathering a possible event.
Dinoza, Jacq, Wei Chuen, Fara, Julian and the rest of the organizing team.
Congratulations!
The site decor was awesome with all the ‘hantu pocong’ hanging from the ceiling.
Too bad I didn’t go and take pictures with all those decorations.
We were among the earliest birds this year (Yes, we beat the Sabah time!). In fact, we arrived at Warisan Square 5 minutes to 6pm and decided it was still too early and drove passed Warisan Square towards Wisma Merdeka and went back to Centre Point before making our way back to Warisan Square. And still we were early. But, it’s ok. No harm in being early

Yours truly and my Uncle Fester @ ALTing aka my photoG for the night.
Meeting fellow bloggers either those whom I have met before or those I am meeting for the first time is indeed something that I’ve always anticipate when it comes to bloggers gathering. So, it’s only natural to have expectation to meet up these bloggers, whose site I click on DAILY basis. But when I only managed to meet some, it somehow gave a draining effect on my mood although of course, not entirely
Now, the event overall…
The best part of this gathering is definitely the costumes.
Everyone was enjoying taking pictures of themselves and their friends.
And I had fun watching the CSP members dressed up as characters in the games they played.
But honestly, I am so clueless of what characters each of them were in. Ha!

Aleaff has the best face make up (my vote). Pictures by Amy Cynthia
But being too engrossed with costume picture taking/session, somehow, in my opinion has taken some shines from the stage performances. I believe, the only time everyone paid attention to the centre stage were during lucky draws, the best make up contest and best costume contest.
Food wise is I think worth the price paid.
Of course those who were in the first 50 list aren’t supposed to complain cos we didn’t pay a single cent to come for that event except for the costumes lah. It was interesting that the food were named after some weird and gross names i.e. maggot rice (or something). Too bad again, I didn’t have pictures of the food. But Lorna has! Hop over to her Flicker. She was all for details that night.

The waiters and waitresses even dressed up in scary outfit to go with the theme. Nice! Picture from Emily
As for the performances that night, I think they were superb.
Alvin MY with his R&B renditions and voice that melt one’s heart away.

Roger Wang was absolutely magical with his guitar strumming and we couldn’t have enough of him that we demanded for more songs. And of course he was all willing to do one more song which was so wonderful that I felt like jiving on the dance floor (only PapaJ was not there to kawan me dancing). LOL!

Our very own local band, Sasuka had rendered nice songs as well but of course, I don’t know their songs.
One of the emcees, Jonathan Tse, whom I just knew, is a recording artist himself (correct me if I’m wrong), also performed a few numbers.
I didn’t get to watch the dancers from Core Fitness as I was in the loo that time but from what I gathered, it was ok.
No winnings (again) for us tonight.
But Clare won one of the lucky draws from DermSens…something about eye-lifting treament. Yakan Clare?
Now, as much as I want to say that I enjoyed the night, there are something that I personally think were amiss.
I didn’t feel the same vibe as it was last year. I know it is not good to do comparison but in a way, it is done to improve on things, right?
So yeah, there were the occasional times when the event seemed to bore me.
I can’t particularly point which one but I must say, most bloggers that were present that night tend to stick to their own group.
Perhaps because these particular bloggers are not regulars to another particular bloggers so they didn’t bother to get to know those who are not in their blog roll. Frankly speaking, I feel that in some ways.
And, maybe the organizing team can be more of a host (like last year) cos I can see that a few new faces kind of left unattended.
I know Wei Chuen did say in his speech, “All we want you guys to do tonight, is to mingle around and have fun.”
Well, as much as we want everyone to mingle, there are those who definitely not the social type of a person.
What more being new in the gathering, I feel they need to be welcomed and feel ‘at home’.
Maybe, there should be an ice-breaking session lead by the organizer next time? What do you think?
But!
I did enjoy myself meeting these bloggers…

Soulja Grrl, Pirate Lady, Wednesday Addams & Lady Gaga

Emily @ Lady Gaga. - Sorry didn’t recognize your costume character at first glance. I always picture Lady Gaga as a more extreme person when it comes to dressing bah. LOL!

Joan @ Barbie in pink polka dot dress. - Now, if I look at the pictures again, you really look like Barbie!!!
Fharelyne @ Sexy Cowgirl. - Great meeting you in person Von! Slim owh you!

Chegu@Wednesday Addams with Joan@Barbie and Sheila@Corpse Bride (sayang can’t see your black veil here Sheila).

..with Massy,Amy Cynthia and Alus.

Olie and I…

Group picture grab from Amy Cynthia.
Although I didn’t get to take picture with them, I am glad I have met these bloggers during the SBG.
Ernie @ Japanese School Girl? - Yakah? We didn’t get to take picture but I know, we went to the same Uni before.
Dhillon @ Himbata Activist. - Hehehe… bah, if I managed to overcome my fear for leech, I give you a call.
Vera (and her Charlie) @ the Couple Army Soldiers. Cute lah you both.
Bobby came in his BBKK shirt.
Edgar I dunno what your character costume is lah Edgar but I like your make up!
Sharon Spiji @ as herself, fresh from a wedding dinner
Until next year SBG!!
Now, I am just wondering….where could MissMatthew be that night? I was waiting to meet you that…

Nice photos for sure. Good constructive criticism there for the team, hopefully they’re not offended by it, but use it as a yardstick to improve.
I remember walking around to each and every blogger in 2008 and introducing myself, trying to break the ice. But, you’re right, icebreakers are crucial, judging by the lack of mingling. Then again, I was told that Sabahans are a shy lot and don’t like to participate in games, betul ka?
Ya, I hope they take this as positive comment lah
Ermmm Sabahans shy? Well as far as myself is concerned, Im not shy to participate in games. But I dunno about the rest lah

Ok… now I know, that was you… lol… the first thing I had going in my head was: “She looks very familiar…” - guess that’s what happens when you arrive for the event without ample time to mingle about…
Owh yeah, that was me
You were there to photograph the event, so you shouldn’t mingle. LOL! I kid.

Bestnya you all :-))
But frankly speaking..I like your costume only really macam si Wednesday and Oh your hubby pun kurang lebih Uncle Fester well done to you both ;-)..the rest macam tiada character hehe
Thanks bangai!
Most of the costumes yg kena pakai that night actually characters from games… and they are mostly members of a group called CSP..(i dunno wat it stands for, massy help me). I didn’t get to take picture of most of the costumes that night and they were actually much2 more awesome.

Carol, yes..i was that japanese schoolgirl! btw, i recognized you straight away. i think you’re right on that “I can’t particularly point which one but I must say, most bloggers that were present that night tend to stick to their own group. Perhaps because these particular bloggers are not regulars to another particular bloggers so they didn’t bother to get to know those who are not in their blog roll. Frankly speaking, I feel that in some ways” part.
i came all alone that night, the only people i know are Dino & Aaron (the guy wearing the blue scrubs) the rests are pretty much alien to me. but, i did make a few friends
and of course sampat betegur dgn ko. well aside from the great performances (i paid my undivided attention to the performances, kalu inda rugi2 jak kan?)i personally think that the other bloggers could do more ‘mingling around and get to know the crowds’
anyways..i have to say..the organizer did a great job. congrats to them
you came alone? i thought u came together with that girl in blue kimono. well, i must say bravo to you. you made friends! and im pretty sure you had tons of fun judging from your pictures hehe….too bad i didnt get to take picture with you..i still regret that. next SBG lagi la kan…or perhaps anytime we meet when u have already moved back here for good
