That’s Not My Name!

Thursday 1559

Ever bumped on old, long-time-no-see friends and was trapped for not remembering their names??
I do.
Many times.
In fact, it just happened yesterday.

I just finished my aerobic class and decided to stay back and visit the Dojo (a proper place for martial art training) where I used to go for my Karate class yearssss back.
As I went through the notice board at the Dojo, I noticed a familiar face coming towards me, staring.
And when I looked back at her, that’s when she screamed, “Carollllllllll!!!”
I definitely know her.
A friend from the same Karate class I went before.
Gosh, what’s her name?
C’mon brain, spell her name out for me!

I screamed back.
“Eiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!! Long time no see!!”

Obviously I didn’t remember her name.
What friend.

Then, a few minutes later came another friend who was like the first friend, was thrilled to see me.
But this time, I didn’t actually remember the second friend very well.
So, even if I forgot her name, which I did, can be forgiven lah.

Only after almost half an hour talking, mostly about our Karate memories, then I remember her name.
Urmmm…ok, I didn’t actually remember her name by myself.
The other friend happened to say the first friend’s name out.
So yeah, I remember her name.

Bad, huh?
I feel even worst when friends remember my name clearly while I stood there trying to squeeze my brain out for their names.
At times, I would shamelessly ask for their names.
Of course, with the usual indirect way of “Errr, what’s your name already ah? You know lah, age is catching up with me.”
Or in other scenario where I bumped on them first, I would say, “I think I know you but I forgot your name.”

Is it because of the increasing numbers in age or it is just normal to forget someone’s name whom you haven’t met for a long time?
Perhaps, it is because these are friends who weren’t close enough to me that I didn’t get their names printed in my head.
Or maybe, because I only remember them by their nick names back then?

Oh well, either one…. forgetting their names makes me looked old.
Yikes!

On a different note, my Sensei (martial art coach/trainer) asked me to re-join Karate and gain my black belt.
I was a step away from getting my black belt when I called it quit 12 years ago.
It is so tempting.
What more when those two old friends are also making their come back.

Wow!
If I decided to join this martial art again, that would make my weekday evenings packed with physical exercising man!
I’ve just signed up for aerobic class every Monday and Wednesday evenings.
Then, I have Pilates-Yoga class on Tuesday.
Cardio dance on Thursday while Friday is for Jazzercise.
Ha! Ha! Ha!

I wonder if these exercises can boost up my brain energy and help me not to forget friends’ names again.

Are we having too much ants in our system without we realizing it?
