becoming Julia

Wednesday 2057

You know, the Julia in Julie & Julia the movie.

Well, not that I’m going to cook 524 recipes in 365 days. That would be too much enthusiasm for someone like me whose name comes with the word procrastination in bracket.

Dolly MJ said in one of her posts that if you want to be organized, you need to work on it pronto, while you are thinking about it. For instance, if you want to do something about that small corner in your house, get up and start moving things while thinking about it. Sitting and thinking don’t usually get you anywhere much. Case in experience, myself. Remember that project I wanted to do for my shoes? Well, that was 2 years ago.

This is today.
Go figure.

Anyways, back to being Julia. Julie. Whatever.
I am bitten by the cooking bug. Not that much. Just teeny-weeny much. Enough to get us eating dinner that is different from the usual chicken stew, pork stew, omelette, fried fish, fried chicky wings and saute vegetables.

I say different cos I’m starting to think of Caesar Salad, Casserole, curry, sweet and sour…you know, those kind of cooking we usually think tedious to do. Yeah, Caesar Salad to me is tedious.

So, to kick-start things… I went with cooking Drunken Chicken a la Sabahan style or a.k.a. Lihing Manuk. It was my first time but I guess, having tasted good Lihing Manuk before, I kinda know how the taste supposed to be. So yeah, after getting an A-okay from the culinary-trained hubs of mine, my Drunken Chicken was deemed perfect. Of course, the ingredients and cooking steps are way simpler that what a Julia-to-be supposed to do…but hey, I need a kick start remember?

Lihing Manuk, ticked!

Now, I am planning to cook one new recipe a week. That’s not too much, isn’t it? Or maybe, make it once in fortnight. I’m not planing to be Julie Child anyways. Just Julia.

On a different story, I have moved my accessories to a new drawers (again). Well, they aren’t new, new. They were hubby’s old drawers. They only need some fresh paint to make them look as new. That, am gonna do soon! *fingers crossed*
accessory drawers

Speaking of painting old furniture, I have this project plotted in mind. I shall call it, a 12 months Home Improvement make over. This drawers am going to paint, that’s the first in the 12 months period project. Will tell more when I’m done fine tuning everything about this project. When it is ready, it will be under the ‘inspire and to be inspired’ label. Excited? I am!

Happy Maulidur Rasul!

Till next post!
*hugs*
