Oxymoron enough?
You know, the beauty of being a teacher or any educators is that… sometimes, you will get compliments or being showered with worldly materials. The latter may not be expensive. It can be something like this…
A handcrafted little note book.
Never mind the bad spellings.
Or the jagged edge as a result of uneven cutting.
Or that the ‘pages’ are not properly clipped that they somehow detached by itself as you flipped each page.
What matters most, this little book came from an 8 years old kiddo and you know he meant it so much for you to accept it judging from his sincere toothy smile. And he kept repeating to you what’s been written inside that little note book.
“Kau boleh tulis-tulis di sini.”
What more ironic is, you thought he would be thinking you are a mean Maths teacher for you have scolded him many times. Yet, here it is…a small gift that really sent you over the moon.
This good feeling… this is why I still love this job.

I really appreciated my teachers and I don’t surprise to see my ex-teachers attended my wedding!
So Chegu Carol, don’t be surprise if you received a call from your student and says ‘Hello Cikgu, it’s me, your ex-student. Thanks for your guidance. I am a surgeon now.’ Fuyohh…bangga tu!
This small but big gift is surely reminds you that you are among the best teachers in your school Tidak paya ada sijil guru terbaik, yang penting di hati kepala students, ko cikgu yang bagus!!
I know I’d be the happiest teacher if i come to that moment. Even now, when some ex-students from previous schools bumped on me somewhere and say ‘hi’, im so glad they remember me.

I remember two Shirley when i taught Year 6 in my previous school. Tapi i dont remember their surname lah…could be one of them. Is she in Form 4 this year?

Cam mau keluar air mata bila dapat something sweet from the student(s) kan. :’-) Terharu oh. I remembered one of my students did a thank you card for me (that’s their PSK work) but too shy to give it to me so she asked the PSK teacher to hand it. Awh.. Indescribable feeling..

Ouuhh that’s sweet. i remembered my lecture once said “macam mana garang pun, akan ada yg sayang. macam mana sweet pun akan ada yg tak suka. so you just be yourself”
