Free gift?

Last year’s Christmas, I bought hubby a set of perfume. The Sales Assistant at the Hugo counter was so helpful and friendly, she slipped in two free gifts into our purchase. It made me beamed with gladness and promised myself to go back there once I decided to purchase that Flora by Gucci she showed to me.
I returned back four months later for that Flora by Gucci.
The SA was also very friendly although a different person. Nonchalantly I blurted out, “Apa free gift kau boleh bagi saya?”
“Oh adaaaa…mini perfume?”
“Mini perfume saja?” I replied in somewhat unimpressed tone. He sensed it perhaps.
“Ada juga body lotion. Kau mau?”
“Oh great! Yes please,” I replied in obviously joyful tone.
It was a very brief transaction but I was satisfied. A 50ml body lotion of the same brand? The SA even tipped in a Flora Magnolia sample vile for me. How nice of him!
The next day, I showed the body lotion to my colleagues. One of them, upon hearing my story responded.
“Only in Malaysia.”
And she was referring to the same video clip made by Jinnyboytv.com in collaboration with Hitz.fm.
True to the core!
When I watched this before, I giggled cos apart from the hand gesture and the calling everyone a boss, auntie and uncle part, I didn’t realize I was one of them in the video when I was at the perfume counter. The question on free gift felt so natural, it just came out from my mouth like that’s a routine when purchasing things.
Geez.
Spot on man!

Tulah tu Noy.. bila debilang mau bagi lotion, sa ingat yang sample punya tu. Tau2 besar pula. Happiness. Iya, i like the scent… i was deciding between sticking to jlo glow sama ninah flora bah tu…last2 sa decided try flora la. kalau nda puas hati, tunggu habis baru switch balik tu jlo glow.

Have you seen ladies in tudung also gapit their phone di tudung sambil berkoling-koling?
Sa belum pernah lah actually nampak org gapit fon time naik motor sini KK tapi mmg lawak lah tu. Yang ladies in tudung pun sa tia pernah nampak. But if yes, what’s the point ah? Malas mau pigang? LOL!

Yang tu hand gesture mau reserve parking tu jugalah paling sa rasa unbelievable. I think, here in Sabah we dont really practice it kan. Tapi kalo di West Msia, macam no feeling ja tu pigi book parking lot sambil tahan pakai tangan. I remember ada lagi suruh anak2 turun dari kreta pigi bediri di parking lot as a sign to book that lot. Adui bah….

Hahaa. You are a certified Malaysian then. But for me, I don’t really like to barter. I know, sot kan. My style, if I consider it expensive then I wouldn’t buy it. I would probably barter once and when the salesperson can’t give the low price then I would just take it and go ;D I mean, just leave. Sometimes, the salesperson will just agree to the price. Hahaa.

I’m not really good with haggling skill too Arms. Kalau saya ngam price, sa pun beli saja. If the seller can accept the low price I purposely lantak, then good. If not, then I’ll just go with the price that I can pay. But what I meant, about wanting to have free gifts with every purchases I made, nda kisahlah tu barang mahal kah tidak…yang penting, spontaneous ja tu mulut asking for free gift. LOL!

haha, ya bah kita selalu panggil boss or uncle kan sama tuan kedai. Tapi kadang2 saya ni pangil “laupan” or “laupanyang”.
Normally saya pun ask for free gift kalo buat belian porfume or anything yg saya rasa as mahal ni. Bagi saya itu biasa..hehehe
rasa lebih berbaloi spend mahal2 kalo ada extra gift, biarpun kici bah kan Kay

That girl… in the video thumbnail is my friend Careen Tan, haha. I think it’s just become a Malaysian culture sudah. We really need to make sure that what we pay is really worth every single penny of our money xD
Really??? Wahhhh if I was her friend, sa bangga oh telling people about this video….we have to work hard to earn some extra money to be spent. So ya, like you said, mesti mau make sure it is worth every penny spent.
