The weeks before 2011
Wednesday 2007
This gonna be a very long post cos I’m too lazy to draft different entry for different occasion. So it’s gonna be a rojak entry… all in one. Enjoy nonetheless.
The Birthday…
For me, Christmas always starts when I celebrated my birthday. Being 4 days before Christ’s birthday, the celebration is just too obvious to be missed. People said, as you get older, you will tend to not care so much about your own birthday. Some even forget their own birthday. But not me (so far). Like I said, since my birthday is close to Christmas, it’s just inevitable to keep remembering about it.
I wasn’t in the pink of health to celebrate a birthday but having promised to have a ‘makan sedap-sedap’ session with some of my close colleagues, I went on with it. But. I had fun! At least, I got to blow a candle on a cute mini cake. Initially, I had planned to buy my own birthday cake and even warned the hubby that he shouldn’t be bothered to buy one for me. Being slightly under the weather, I was too lazy to even think about it. So yeah, no fancy birthday cake. ^___^
Later in the evening, hubby and I went to Jofanna Bridal’s Christmas Party at Sailor’s Cafe. By this time, my body was already warmed up to stepping into party mode. Aaah well…

For those who are wondering what pressie I get for myself…Well, I did not buy anything this year. Kind of tight on the budget and I don’t really feel the urgency to get a new mobile phone…. Ok fine, that’s just an excuse to make myself feel better. But yeah, no self-pressie this year. But I have many people who loves me dearly that I received these from them! Those in concern, love y’all!!

The day after, FIL brought us to dinner…something about making up for not able to have dinner the night before. Since my birthday was already passed and the fact that 22nd mark the start of Winter Solstice, we had dinner in conjunction of the Winter Solstice. It was EVERYONE’s birthday!

The Eve of Christmas…
We decided to go for Christmas Eve Mass because we wanted to listen to the beautiful Christmas Cantata sung by the Sacred Heart English Mass Choir. They have always sing very melodious Christmas songs and we enjoyed it every time. This year included. But, just like last year, I was not able to record their singing because I forgot to re-insert the SD card in the camera. Blergh!

The hubby was down with food poisoning right after coming back from work that day. So he couldn’t join us for the Mass as well as the Christmas supper at Promenade Hotel. Too bad.
Christmas Day!
We didn’t go to Christmas Day mass.
Our annual Christmas Day lunch is as usual at Bongon Red Roof a.k.a Uncle Peter’s house. He’s MIL’s second elder brother.

After coming back from the BRR residence, sempat lagi we all played Katam-Katam before heading to another uncle’s house for Christmas dinner.

Carving the turkey for Christmas dinner…

A day after Christmas…
We decided to watch movie today. Gulliver’s Travel.
And then went home to unwrap our Christmas pressies!!!

Disimon Clan Party setting up…
I was the person-in-charge of the decoration set up at home for the party. Due to my flight going to Kuching on the 28th and coming home only on the morning of the party day, I had to summon my ‘elves’ to come to the house on the 3rd day of Christmas to set up everything. Thank you dearest elves a.k.a the Generation 4 of the Disimon Clan (and their parents who sent them to the house)!!!!

Kuching, engagement and such…
Flew to Kuching for my kid brother’s engagement. He is the youngest and the last person in the family to get married and I definitely would not want to miss any of this memorable occasion. The event was a total different to what I used to witness here in our state of Sabah. There’s no need to do any signing ceremony or laying out the ‘kirai’ to determine how much dowry should be given to the girl. The ceremony was just plain simple (which is good by the way). Blessing from the priest, exchanging engagement vows and rings followed by cake cutting. That’s all. But having used to our Kadazan-Dusun custom, mom insisted that my kid brother gave some amount of money (Kinopuan Tapi) to his fiancee’s mother as a symbolic appreciation for the girl’s parents who have raised her well and that her husband-to-be is ready to take over the commitment to take care of their daughter.

The morning before I flew to Kuching, had to be at the school for the Year One Orientation Day

The Shiny2 Kilat2 Retro Party…
My flight back to KK was a Red Eye flight which I didn’t mind cos I need ample time to get ready for the party at 3 p.m. However, the engagement party lasted us till 3a.m. and I only had 1 hour to sleep before getting ready to the airport. It was alright, I thought cos I could sleep all the way inside the plane. Unfortunately, my flight was delayed for another 2 hours and trying to sleep in between waiting for the plane to take off was really not a good idea cos by the time I arrived at Terminal 2 KK Airport, I was more lethargic than ever. I was supposed to spend some time at the salon doing my 60’s beehive hair but when I reached home, all I wanted to do was cuddling myself on the bed for an extra hour of sleep before the party started. So yeah, no beehive nor flip 60s hairstyle…I was actually kind of confused on my retro attire…a mix of 60s going to 70s I guess….

Tadaaaa!!! Our Before and After bling-bling Mr & Mrs Snowman…

Myy SIL, Leanne helped out with the ‘dressing up the Snowman’ including putting up the ear-rings on Mrs Snowy and the Peace neck chain on Mr Snowy…. Nice no?

Even the Generation 2 of the clan were so sporting….

Santa came to our party in Herbie!!!

Almost half the clan were sport enough to dress up in their utmost retro attire…that includes those who came dressed up in their 15 years old dress, tight fitting pants and worn out old shoes…Good sport people!

Drink Sanggalas session….
With only minimal hours of sleep and tired from the party, I still had to wake up early on the morning of 31st to go to school - Student Registration Day. My eyes were swollen from lack of sleep. I know cos some colleagues made a comment about it. Back from school, I went straight to bed to stock up some energy for the night’s programs.
We started with attending my cuzzie’s son Full Moon at Papar before driving back to Penampang to celebrate the New Year at Uncle Peter’s.
After wishing everyone New Year greetings, we decided to hit home to play our long overdue drinking games session. At least, if we get too drunk, we could just roll ourselves to bed…or worst, sleep in the living room. Much better, aight?

So yeah, basically those were things that have been tying me up the past 2 weeks. It was tiring days leading up to the New Year but all in all, I had very much having fun and enjoying them to bits.
And for the new year, I anticipate more fun rides to come!
Bring it on 2011!!!
Until next post!
*hugs*

I had! Penat yes but fun suppressed tiredness…Ya, it was his idea for us to wear traditional costume on that day. Nanti during his wedding, we might be having Bollywood infused wedding lagi due to his fiancee’s Indian heritage. Cant wait!
