Just twelve

Thursday 1923

Hey ho!

Ok, so this is actually my main intention for today’s post.
I am going to talk about shoes.
Yes, shoes!

I have read somewhere that in olden years, particularly during World War, having three pair of shoes was considered luxurious enough for wealthy people. When it was not in war, having twelve pairs was a standard number of shoes possessions. That is one pair per month. But we all know that in today’s standard, one can actually buy five pairs of shoes in one purchase and then another five in the next month. Right? Right?

To date, I have never bought 5 pairs of shoes in one go. Seriously. The most will be three. Multiply that to 3-4 times in a year and that equals to 9-12 pairs in a year. That was before. I am more ‘conscious’ now when it comes to buying shoes (exceptional clause if there is a word ’sale’ in it though). So the ‘conscious’ new me was telling me to get rid some of my shoes and stick to just keep twelve pairs.

On the absent of Internet at home, I managed to take down all my shoes, cleaned and laid them all in line so that I could justified which one to keep and which to let go. And here are my picks to stay and why…

The Buckles Collection

buckles.jpg
There is no reason to not love the beige pair, right?
The brown pair is my first online purchase that I adore to this date.

The Bootie and Peep Toe Collection

shoes-copy.jpg
The black purple bootie have only been worn once since the SBG 2009 Halloween party. I just dunno why I’m still putting it in the ‘keep’ list when it actually gives sore to my bulging bunions. Oh well, I guess there will be times when I’m gonna wear this one.
The black suede peep toe with lace pair is another fav of mine because of its comfort wearing.
The gold peep toe is not a pair to stash away. So yeah, it’s a keep.

The T-bar Collection

shoes2-copy.jpg

The gold pair is one of my fav and have been used several times. I still think it’s gonna be in service for a few more time.
The purple T-bar with faux crystal on its strap is another only-been-worn-once pair. I love wearing it but the color just have to go with the perfect combination of dress color. Hence, the one time wearing. But it is still a keep. :)
The black T-bar with diamente detail buckle is simply a perfect pair for that gorgeous LBD.

The Wedges Collection

wedges.jpg
I am not really fan of wedges but if one does caught my attention, I don’t mind buying it.
The black pump wedges is an old pair that I find hard to let go while the white one is just perfect for a pair of shorts or leggings.

The Undecided

undecided.jpg
I am torn between keeping or stashing ‘em.
The polka dot bow detailing on the top picture kinda hit it off. But not meant for comfort cos there were several times that it slipped off from my feet and that really wasn’t a pleasant experience.
The black pair at the bottom picture caught me off breadth when I first spot it at Charles & Keith last year. Only set back is, it pressed too much on my bunions making walking gracefully seem harder than swallowing porridge.
So, keep it or let it go on eBay?
If I do let them go, there will be two more rooms on my 12 pairs a year shoe policy.
And oh, that only referring to my collection of dress shoes.
It isn’t fair to include flats, work shoes and sport shoes in it, right?

How many do you keep, ladies?

PS: I might be posting the ‘to let go’ shoes soon. Anyone care for pre-loved shoes?

Until next post!
*hugs*

Since my knee injury, I actually stopped buying heels and getting a comfortable and “special” pair of flats in KK are not that easy… hence, to date, I’ve only bought 2 pair of flats this year :P

As for your collection, well, the ones you showed here are definitely great choice!

Honestly, if I’m not at work, I’ll be wearing flats most of the time. Itu high heels suma reserve for dinner functions ja tu. You prefer open toe flats or ballerina pumps? I think Ipanema’s flats the best so far. And as for covered flats, I still go with Crocs.

    And thanks!
